The doctors and staff at Eye Care Professionals understand the importance of eye health and vision care for children, from infants through the teenage years.
Proper vision is critical to their social and academic development and performance.
Here are some things you should know about children's vision:
Babies
Babies actually have to learn how to see. At about six months, you should bring your child to a doctor of optometry for his or her first thorough eye exam.
Pre-school
During the toddler years, children develop many vision skills, from eye-hand coordination to related fine motor skills. Vision care should be a key part of your child's medical and wellness programs.
School Age
In the classroom, your child's eyes are constantly in use. It is important to assure that their vision is in good health - near vision for reading, distance vision for seeing the classroom board and presentations clearly, and peripheral awareness for all the activity surrounding them.
School Athletics
Protective eyewear is important for athletes of every age. This includes both prescription and non-prescription lenses made of polycarbonate that are shatter resistant.
As a patient, you can talk to the doctors at Eye Care Professionals about eye health at every stage of your child's development.
